DISCERN Study

DISCERN Study

This animation was created as part of the DISCERN study, which looked into the disclosure and discussion of harm in maternity care in the NHS in England. It draws on the experiences of families and staff involved in incidences of harm, in their own words; focusing on areas of good practice in open disclosure.

Sadly, many families who have experienced death or harm will not have had these experiences. The aim of this project was to create a piece to support with improving staff awareness of what is important to families and how practice can be improved.
