The Three Faiths Forum, Freedom for Torture and Mixed up Chorus, produced the song Mother's Day,
to help illuminate the stories and experiences of migrants and refugees living in the UK today.

The central chorus of this piece is a traditional Kikongo song that was shared in workshops by a participant whose mother used to sing to him as a child. The dialect is unique to the area he grew up in, and approximately translates as follows:

"When you eat and drink, think of the people back home.
And if you've got some things, share with people who don't have.

Be cool to everyone, whoever you are."

The animation will be used as part of a wider schools package, to help children in UK schools understand more about the lives of migrants and refugees.
